PARENTS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

Research shows that regardless of the economic, ethnic, or cultural background of the family, when parents are involved in their children’s education, students have …

  • Higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates

  • Better school attendance

  • Increased motivation

  • Better self-esteem

  • Lower rates of suspension

  • Decreased use of drugs and alcohol

  • Fewer instances of violent behavior

  • Greater enrollment rates in post-secondary education

When you are involved, your child achieves more!

Here are several things that you can do to monitor son/daughter’s progress:

  • Expect your son/daughter to have homework.

  • Check your son/daughter’s attendance by calling:

 Mrs. Miller  x4545   (A-L)

 Mrs. Brown x4112   (M-Z)

  • Check your son/daughter’s grades on the Millikan web page – You will need to know your son/daughter’s Millikan ID number and Pin number.

  1. Click CHECK GRADES in the blue area near the top of the page
  2. Click on the first letter of the teacher’s last name
  3. Click on “Check Grades”
  4. Locate the period and class
  5. Enter the nine digit “Student ID” number (example 10805611)
  6. Enter the Pin number.  The Pin number is your son/daughter’s birthday (example 061188)
  7. Check the date in the upper right corner.  This will let you know how recently the grades were entered on the web page.
  • If you do not have Internet access, your son/daughter can obtain grade printouts from his/her teachers.

  • Participate in Open House, Back-to-School & Parent Nights.

  • Stay in contact with your son/daughter’s teachers and counselor.

  • Check for the next progress report.
